Ciplox is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic utilized for treating urinary tract infections, including acute uncomplicated cystitis, pyelonephritis, and chronic bacterial prostatitis.

Ciplox is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. This medication works by inhibiting DNA-gyrase, an enzyme in bacteria essential for DNA replication and the synthesis of bacterial cellular proteins, leading to bacterial death and exhibiting bactericidal activity.

Ciplox is effective against both actively multiplying bacteria as well as those in a dormant state. It is prescribed for various infections affecting the pulmonary system, kidneys, urogenital system, gastrointestinal system (including the mouth, teeth, jaws, bladder, and biliary tract), skin, mucous membranes, soft tissues, and more. It targets numerous gram-negative aerobic and gram-positive bacteria, such as Salmonella, Shigella, Proteus, Chlamydia, Streptococcus, and certain species of the Staphylococcus genus.

Administer Ciplox precisely as directed by your healthcare provider, accompanied by a large glass of water, with or without food, and at consistent intervals. Increase your water intake during the course of treatment. Avoid ingestion with dairy products, as they can reduce Ciplox's effectiveness. Do not crush, chew, or break the extended-release tablet; swallow it whole. When taking the oral liquid form, consume it without chewing.

Prior to taking Ciplox, consult your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, myasthenia gravis, joint issues, diabetes, a history of seizures, low blood potassium levels, or heart rhythm abnormalities. Minimize prolonged exposure to UV radiation.

Possible side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, rash, headache, restlessness, confusion, hallucinations, pale or yellowed skin, dark urine, and increased bruising or bleeding. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue Ciplox and reach out to your doctor.

Do not take a double dose of Ciplox. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and resume the schedule as planned.

Overdose symptoms may include seizures, difficulty urinating, weakness, or a combination of blue lips and pale skin. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical assistance immediately.
